. Witold Wojtkiewicz was a Polish painter and draughtsman, best known for his impressionistic landscapes and portraits. He was born in the small Polish town of Zaleszczyki in 1879. He began his artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and later studied in Vienna, Munich, and Paris.

Wojtkiewicz was strongly influenced by Impressionism, but he also eschewed the conventions of the movement and developed a more individual style. He was noted for his somewhat unusual choice of subjects, as well as his ability to capture the subtle nuances of light and atmosphere in his paintings. His works typically depict the rural villages and landscapes of his native Poland, often with a sense of nostalgia and longing.

Wojtkiewicz was highly acclaimed during his lifetime, and was a frequent exhibitor at the annual Salons in Paris and Munich. He also had several solo exhibitions, including one in the National Museum in Kraków in 1911. In addition, he received numerous awards and honors, including the Grand Prix at the International Exhibition in Munich in 1912.

Wojtkiewicz's work has been celebrated in Poland and abroad. He is considered one of the preeminent painters of the Polish Impressionist movement, and is remembered as a masterful interpreter of the Polish countryside and its people. His works can be found in many of the world's leading art museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and the National Museum in Kraków.

Wojtkiewicz died in Kraków in 1909, at the age of 30. Although his life was short, his legacy as an artist lives on in his remarkable paintings and drawings. His unique vision of the Polish landscape and its people continues to captivate viewers and inspire future generations of pain
